Barista and Cat Caretaker | Job Description
Position Overview
Wired Whisker recently opened as a new business in Duluth, MN, and we are looking for unique individuals who can blend the art of coffee-making with the compassion of cat care in the dual role of Barista and Cat Caretaker. In this role, you will handle both the bustling cafe side and the quieter, nurturing aspect of cat care. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a coffee shop environment as a barista and experience handling cats beyond their own. IMPORTANT NOTE: This role primarily focuses on coffee preparation and customer service, with a small but crucial component dedicated to maintaining the cleanliness and happiness of our cat lounge. If you are looking to spend extended time with our cats, please consider volunteering in our cat lounge.
Qualifications
Must be at least 18 years old
Minimum of 1 year experience in a cafe or customer service role
Minimum of 1 year experience as a barista (tamp and pull espresso machine experience preferred)
Must have experience handling and caring for cats (experience volunteering at a rescue or shelter preferred)
Must be okay with exposure to cats, having no allergies to them
Knowledge of coffee and other beverages, including espresso drinks
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask effectively
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends, with a willingness to cover shifts for other employees
Physical ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and perform physical tasks such as bending, stooping, and standing for long periods
Responsibilities
Expertly prepare and serve coffee and other menu items, ensuring each customer's satisfaction
Keep the cafe area clean, organized, and welcoming to all guests
Accurately handle cash and card transactions
Monitor the cats for safety and well-being, maintain litter boxes and feeding stations, and provide enrichment activities
Answer questions regarding the adoption process and educate guests on cat care
Support the cafe's opening and closing as needed, assist in training new staff, and provide exemplary customer service at all times

Schedule
(not currently hiring) Full-time positions available, ranging from 30 - 40 hours per week (scheduled hours: 6:30 a.m. - 7:30 p.m.)
(not currently hiring) Part-time positions available, ranging from 10 - 25 hours per week (scheduled hours: 6:30 a.m. - 7:30 p.m.)
